eMail-notice of ONE thread possible?

Hello,

is there a feature in the moodle-Forum to subscribe just one single thread (=to get eMails when something new is posted) and not the whole forum? I´ve posted a topic and wanted to be kept informed - but now my mailbox is crowded with ALL topics of the forum not just the topic I´m interested in. sad

Not quite what you asked for but you could set your email to digest option, then scroll through emails rather than receive each separately.

It's not currently possible, but it is a popular feature request - you'll find out more here and here.

And there was a hack done by Brian Sea - MDL-1626 - but I'm not sure if the code was attached to the issue tracker.

Yes, this does come up frequently.

I think that a potential issue arising from the ability to subscribe to a specific discussion in a forum is that there may be other interesting or relevant discussions taking place which one is unaware of.

Perhaps a useful refinement might be that if one were allowed to subscribe to particular discussions in a forum then one would also receive the initial post in any new discussion in that Forum (including those created by virtue of a split). This would allert selective subscribers to new dicussions but leave the actual subscription to the new dicussion optional.

Simply attaching a discussion-id to all the messages in a given discussion would make it easier to track messages (you could filter on that discussion-id, for example).

As an old Usenet user I miss threading a lot in Moodle forums.
