Hi,

I have build a new server with version 1.7 on it. The old server ( a xp workstation) a have made a backup from the data. Is there a procedure to import all the data into the new server?

Oke i have read it but it no that simple. I know moodle is free so is it supportsad.

I have version 1.5 running on a XP machine, installed a new version 1.7 on a dual core machine. I want to move the old data(huge) to the new server. I have read a lot but don't find a good answer. Can i just copy the mysql database from one machine to the other or is there a import function.

Maybe it is better to just build from scratc again.

Install 1.5 (the exact same version) on the dual core machine. Move (copy) your database (make sure the database software and version are compatible in the XP and dual core machine) and moodledata directory from the XP to the dual core machine. Make sure everything works in the dual core machine.

Once you have everything working, upgrade to 1.7 on the dual core machine (see the upgrade documentation at http://docs.moodle.org/).

This is the faster/safer way to do it.
