We're considering rewriting the lesson module in order to incorporate the quiz questions. However, we've seen comments in the source code implying that the similar projects may be currently under development.
Can someone comment on that?

I have been working on this for some time now. I have both Tim Hunt and Moodle HQ interested in the project. The tentative target is Moodle 2.0 since 1.8 is due in January and this project is a rather large undertaking.
I have not made a formal announcement about this migration because the plans are still in the works. But, you can read about it here: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Adding_question_types_to_lesson

I'm not a developer. But I would like to ask, since the integration will be for 2.0, if it would be possible in the meantime to allow the lesson page to have a block which points to quiz? Then the result of the quiz will be analyzed by some script in lesson that has set variables like measure treshhold and greater than, less than values; so that it will simply be converted to true or false and the lesson will treat it as such and jump accordingly.
