Guests can enter course but logged user can't!

Hi people,

I'm pretty new to Moodle, so I'm sorry if this is not the right place for this question...

The point is I have the following situation:

- user authentication is done thru email (Moodle's default)
- 1 free course, guest login + internal enrollment
- several paid courses, PayPal enrollment

So, the user with no account can enter free course as guest but it's shown the login page if he tries to access any of the other courses... cool! big grin

The logged users have access to the course they paid the enrollment for and the login page is shown if they try to access another paid course big grin BUT if they try to access the free course, they CAN'T! sad It says: "This course does not allow public access".

I think it happens because the logged users can't be guest user at the same time. However I'd like to keep access to this free course for those who are logged. What can I do?

Is there a possibility to automatically enroll everyone who sign up the page into some course, like this free course?

Well... I hope someone can understand my problem... I'm really new on all this!

Thanks for any help!

My free course was a meta course... the problem was solved when I set it to no meta course.

I don't fully understand what is a meta course, but is it suppose to be like that?

A meta course is c ourse that gets its enrollment information from another course. I supose the idea is that you could tie a group of courses together and enroll the students in the non meta course and the students would automaticaly be enrolled into all of the attached meta courses.

If the meta couse option is set it will block other enrollment methods.

Hi Michael! Thanks for clarifying me.... now I got! wink

I kinda had this idea about meta course, but I thought it would be possible to enroll people who were not enrolled in courses but just homepage users.

Anyway I could solve my problem, and now it's working as I wanted :D

Hi Leticia,

Just FYI - not sure if you are aware, but in most parts of moodle there are lots of little Question mark images that link to contextualised help - eg beside the Metacourses drop-down, there should be a little question mark - click on it and it will breifly explain metacourses.

There is also a great Documentation Wiki here:
http://docs.moodle.org

The Documentation for Metacourses is located here:
http://docs.moodle.org/en/Metacourses

hope that helps!

Thanks, Dan wink I've already used the Moodle docs and for sure they helped a lot!

However some parts are not totally clear or complete... at least for me...

I think that as much as I get used to Moodle everything is gonna make more sense :D

Anyway, I'm loving it wink
