Hi.

We are using Moodle 1.6.3. At the beginning of the new academic year I used the Reset course option to start a fresh course with a new batch of students while retaining all of last year's resources & activities.

The notice says:

This page allows you to empty a course of user data, while retaining the activities and other settings. Please be warned that by choosing items below and submitting this page you will delete your chosen user data from this course forever!

I was subsequently surprised to find out that a number of items have not been deleted by the reset function.

  1. Forum discussions are removed but - on the main Forums page - the Discussions "counter" still displays the number of past discussions (which have been removed).
  2. All attachments which had been attached to forum discussions are still present in the moddata files.
  3. All attached files to assignments are still present in the moddata files.

I am aware of this thread but am surprised that nothing has been done recently to make the reset course function fully functional in current 1.6 version.

There is a tracker entry for this, MDL-6228 where Petr Škoda reports:
"Course reset will be finished in 1.8, sorry."

I've added a comment to the tracker report pointing to this message, since points 2 & 3 were not included.
