Preferred Language mix-ups

Preferred Language mix-ups

I am having a very odd language issue, and I think it may be a sign of larger problems.
I have found that when I change the preferred language of any user of the site, that the site will then display to me in their language for the remainder of my session. I can get back to English by either going to the profile edit page for my account and clicking "save" (I do not have to change my language, as it still lists my preferred language as English.), or I can log out and log back in to refresh the session.

This must be a sign of a larger issue. Any ideas?

I am running 1.6.2+ (2006050521), which I just upgraded to the other day.

I am getting similar problem too Steve.
I posted this bug, claiming that a warning message was occuring in English when it should be occuring in Japanese. The Japanese language does exist but for some reason both my student and myself (when I logged on as) got an English warning message, even though her account language is set to Japanese.

Tim,
Glad to hear that I am not the only one having issues...
Have you tried changing the the preferred language on a test user to see if it effects your own session settings?
I don't see the problem that I described above as a big issue for me at the moment, but I am just a bit worried that it is only a symptom of a larger issue with sessions or permissions...

Maybe I will try upgrading to 1.6.3 to see if it changes anything...

Hi,

We experience the same effect too after upgrading to 1.6.3+ (from 1.5.4). Since 1.6.3 has numerous other issues in our installation, I guess we should upgrade to 1.7 as soon as our contrib tools have been made ready for 1.7.

Rgrds,
Paul.

Bump.

Nonetheless, if anyone comes up with a solution for this annoying glitch I would be very interested in reading about it. smile
