Develop on another machine

I was wondering if I can develop things for moodle on another computer and then transfer that to the main moodle installation?

I have moodle running on a windows network and would like to do some work (such as theme building) on my mac laptop.

Can this be done?
Do I need to install moodle on my mac or do the files transfer to a wysiwyg editor or something?

Thanks for you time smile

Yes, this is a good way to work.

You should be able to get Apache, PHP and MySQL (or Postgres) all installed on your laptop. Then you can install Moodle there and edit and test things. When you are done, you can copy he changed files (that is, you new theme) back to your main install.

I am posting this message from my laptop that has several copies of Moodle installed.
