See bug #MDL-6336
Summary: after utf8-migration pre-migration essays don't get show to users in Grade Essays tab or its subviews (single essays entries), because unserialize fails for "useranswers" that contants the essay and teacher response.
Any ideas for a workaround? There very few lessons in our system, but the only sizable course that uses it will have its final exam next week and the essays and teacher responses need to be available for the students for a review before the exam.

I added some more information to the bug, but I really have no clue how the migration process works. It would be nice if someone could shed some light.
