Students uploads files to an assignment.

  • When I try to open this, MS-Explorer opens the dokument in an MS-Explorer-Window with "nearly" an office-shell but with less functionality.
    Is there any possibility to prevent ms-explorer to open word, excel, project and such files in an explorer window?
  • Normaly I download files with an utiliy called "fresh download", but this programm is interpreting  moodle downloads as a html page .. not as a dokument and stop downloading ..
    Using the right mouse button and save to disk works correct, but ist not usable for  lot of files, a downloadmanager handels this perfect (without disturbing windows).
    Is there any downloadmanager known, which is able to download also files which are served by moodle?
  • No possibility could be ftp-download, it would take me a lot of time to find the owner of the file and grade  the work...,

thanks Peter

  • for office 2003 here the solution:
  • Start -> Run -> regedt32.exe
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes
    look for
    .doc
    .xls
    and so on
  • right mouse click -> new -> String Value
  • Name: BrowserFlags
  • Value: 8

Works for all extensions (doc, xls, pdf (!) and so on)

For somebody who would like to try this, be very, very carefully and baxkup your registry before changing !!!!!!!! It may kill your pc in seconds ...
