At the moot I went to in New Zealand Martin talked about mssql and said they are working with Microsoft to get it working with moodle. I can't remember a time frame but I don't think it is in the neer future.

Hi Don,

MS Sql is not easily compatible with 1.6 - the patches in the forums are all that is available currently. However Martin Dougiamas and the team at Moodle HQ have been working on a new Database schema to allow full database independence which will allow support for MS SQL and in future Oracle and other widely available databases. This work will be in the 1.7 Moodle release

for your interest - here are the details on the new schema:
http://docs.moodle.org/en/XML_Database_Schema

The Moodle 1.7 release date is sometime in September, so if you are able to wait a couple of months, the new version should suit your needs.

thanks,

smile
