Moodle version 1.7 versus 2.0?

Moodle version 1.7 versus 2.0?

Assume that I were to install, test, and develop a site using version 1.7 of Moodle, so that by the time 1.7 is in production (August of this year), the site is fully developed and ready to go. When 2.0 is released, will the architecture and user interfaces be so different that it will be difficult to upgrade?

Hi William,

A few thoughts:
  • Since Moodle 1.6 is not yet out, I would suggest to start with a Moodle 1.6 beta. For testing purposes, it is stable enough.
  • Don't pin on a date: Moodle 1.7 and Moodle 2.0 will be released when they are ready, not in August of this year.
  • I'm using Moodle now for 3 years and I never had any problem upgrading Moodle. My testserver updates weekly, sometimes daily. The love that is given to the upgrade proces by developers makes it solid as a rock.
