The last post shown in the list of discussions isn't always the latest

If you don't respond to the last post in a discussion, your reply might not appear as the last post in the list of discussions, even if it is actually the latest. In other words, the post displayed as the "last post" in the list of discussions might not truly be the most recent one.

I observed that too, but only on moodle.org forums. The 4.1 LTS sites I maintain don't have this problem.

Yes, I reckon this started on Saturday.

A good example is the Before you post... read this... discussion. Howard's reply is the latest (2020-06-18 11:15 UTC) but at the top of the General help forum, Kate's reply is shown as latest despite being 6 minutes earlier).
