Can Moodle workshop Manual allocation take reviewer allocation from a csv file or excel sheet

In my college I am acting as a coordinator for managing projects using workshop activitiy in Moodle.

Scenario : There will be a group of students allocated for a Mentor. When students submit their presentations and project report Mentor have to assess it. For this assessment I choose Manual Allocation as Mentor and their students are fixed. As it is large set of students and mentors , I find it difficult to assign the student to mentor each and every time. Here Mentor is also included as student role.

Question :

1) Is there any way to take the allocation of student to a mentor from a csv file or excel file. Is there any alternate workaround to solve this scenario.

2) Is there any way for students to store their files in a moodle folder activity during workshop activity so that the files can be accessed at any point of time. (instead of attachment)

Hi Gowri,

Is there any reason why you don't use Assignment for this?

It could be done like this:

  1. Set up a Moodle Group for each group of students allocated to one mentor
  2.  Set up an assignment with these settings:
    1. 'Separate groups' enabled - this means the mentor can filter by their Group in 'View all submissions' and just respond to their mentees
    2. Grade Type can be set to None so no grades are involved (or maybe a Satisfactory/Try again scale can be set up alongside 'Additional attempts' > 'Automatically until pass' if there are to be multiple rounds of feedback)
    3. The mentor can provide feedback in the usual way using the Assignment grading interface
  3. If the due date is set far in the future, and the 'Require students to click the submit button' is set to 'No' - I think that students can then see and access their submission in the Submission area. Not sure if this would meet what you are looking for with the folder though.

Thanks for your mail. 

Yes we already had tried with Assignment settings.

We had chosen the workshop settings for the following reasons: 

1) We have flexi system so that mentor , mentee keeps changing as per the requirement of the project settings.

2) There are several smaller teams /groups so need to create larger number of groups.

So thought we want to try with workshop activity.

All good with workshop activity but if the following requirements are there it would be nice

  1. Manual allocation by uploading a csv / excel file. This will enable our team settings change updated and upload into workshop activity
  2. PDF annotator is provided
