Hi there, 

I know this has been mentioned several times before, but why isn't there a response template option for online text submission in the Assignment activity? I need to use a grading rubric, so the quiz activity isn't an option. The assignment activity is limited because it does not have a response template, and the students have to copy a form from the instruction window.

Any ideas?

Never thought of having the Online text part of Assignments use a template - but I can see the value of that.

Until that becomes a feature, is it possible to attach a text, word or excel document for them to download and then resubmit?

Original file would go in the settings.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, it is possible to create a downloadable file, but many steps are involved in accomplishing a relatively simple task. You have to create the file and upload it; the student has to download the file, fill it out, and re-upload it, and then the instructor has to download it again for grading. Having a response template directly in the Assignment activity would alleviate all that. We are using rubrics for grading, so the Assignment activity is my only option at this point.
I'm open to suggestions to make this process easier if there's a better way.
