Help, going around in circles with a simple role!!

Hi

Please help me sort what should be a simple request but clearly I'm missing something.

I've tried many times to create/edit roles to be applicable to our Curriculum Quality team. I get close, then something breaks. I'm going to list what we need the role to do, then the problem I'm encountering today:

  • I need to apply the role at a Category level.
  • It must not show on the Participants list.
  • It needs to be able to view Assignment submissions across all groups (if groups are used in the course). The person themselves will not be in any group.
  • I'd prefer they couldn't make actual changes to activities / grades / marking feedback (but I suspect to be able to do the above, then this is impossible).

I've attached the permissions for the current role that's currently in use, however it does not display any submissions even when there are many.

Thank you

Hi Suzanne,

may your problems is still actual, i think i have an idea to solve it smile

Have you already tried to assign the user as manager of the course category? If a user is Manager of a course category he can see all courses and is not shown on participant list.

You have also the option to change the capabilities of the manager role for the specific course category. So he can´t change the course activities.

Feel free to test it. Maybe it´s your solution smile

Best Regards, Tessa

Thank you for your help Tessa, I did as you suggested and just stripped back the permissions of the manager's role.
