Reset courses in bulk while keeping grade categories

Reset courses in bulk while keeping grade categories

Hi,

I reset courses in bulk at the end of every term using a csv file on admin/tool/uploadcourse/
The file contains a field "reset" set as "1".

Doing so though, the grade categories are erased, as well as access restrictions using grades.

Is there a way to bulk reset courses without resetting gradebook setup ?

Basically I only want to bulk erase enrolments.

I'm if it is possible to either
- define default reset values sitewide (what to keep and what to reset by default)
- or specify what to reset in the csv file

Or any other solution that would work.

Thanks,

Sébastien

Using the Recompletion Plugin you can reset all grades and activity completions. https://moodle.org/plugins/local_recompletion/

Hi Shirley,

Thank you for your suggestion.
The documentation states that this plugin is course level, whereas my question regarded site level reset. Does the plugin work at site level?
Besides, the need is to erase enrolments, not grades. Would the plugin work for that purpose?
Thanks,

Sébastien

When you're resetting an individual course, you can load the defaults or not, and you can choose what the reset does (including whether it clears gradebok categories and items), but I'm not sure what controls what the default reset does?

the plugin is at the course level, but it takes only a few minutes to setup each course and then you never have to touch the setting again.
I have some courses that have been running for 3 years on this plug-in.
However, it does not "erase" the enrollments. The enrolled students, remain enrolled, but their grades and activity completion is reset. So it appears, my suggestion would not help you achieve what you are seeking.
