We have just begun creating modules using Articulate, and we include a feedback survey we'd like to generate reports on, which means we need access to the text of the responses. If I read the existing documentation correctly there's no way to get this using SCORM, but it appears we can do that with xAPI.
I've seen other posts saying that xAPI doesn't provide much benefit unless you're aggregating info from multiple LMSs, but would this be a good use case for xAPI?
It also seems that xAPI requires an external LRS, but I'd like to confirm that here. Will Moodle not receive/report on any information passed from an Articulate xAPI module? We have a server where we could create an endpoint to receive just the survey results, and leave the rest of the basic completion data to Moodle, but is that supported? Or once we go xAPI does that mean we need an external LRS for all reporting information associated with the xAPI module?
Our solution for now is to embed a Google form in the SCORM module, then we can retrieve the results from Google via API, but we'd prefer to keep everything on our own servers if we could.

Hi Greg - From this Moodle Developer Docs page on xAPI: "The final objective of Moodle xAPI library is NOT to implement a full LRS inside Moodle but to provide an easy way to handle xAPI statements and xAPI states within any plugin that needs it."
There might be a way to have the survey results email themselves. I don't use articulate but I know Camtasia scorms can send results. A long time ago I wanted supervisors to receive results from scorm and I modified a page within the package (using Lectora--don't know how packages build in articulate; this would never work in Captivate) to put in a little code that gathered the info and sent it to the listed supervisor, you could give it a static email if this is a possibility. I don't remember what the code was and don't have access to any of the packages any longer but it might work. Different authoring software provides different end results. Have you asked the Articulate community if there is a way to email or ship results somewhere?
