Dear Moodle Experts,
I have a few questions about Moodle 4.2.1's file access. Suppose I have the this situation, we have 3 course templates on Moodle, English, Math and Science, all 3 courses have their separate files stored on their separate course repositories. All 3 courses have 10 topics in each course.
Now, admin Xavier copies and paste the English course and Teacher Jane and her student Steve are enrolled to English. Next, admin Xavier copies and paste the Math course and Teacher Vicky and her student Alex are enrolled to Math.
Question 1: When courses are copied and pasted, do the courses still point to the same repositories that contain their files?
Question 2: Does Moodle have a tagging system that certain users with the tag can access certain repositories?
Question 3: Not sure if the Group system in Course can do this, but suppose we don't want to copy and paste the Course template, suppose we have another group, that is, Teacher Jane and his student Bill, note that Jane has two students, Steve and Bill, but the two students are in different groups, thus different progress, but both Steve and Bill are enrolled to English and they have the same teacher, Jane. Is it possible to use Group so Steve and Bill don't know and can't see each other? Also, can the Group system handle multiple progress, say Jane-Steve is on Topic 7 (topics 8 and onward are hidden for Steve) in English and Jane-Bill is on Topic 5 (topics 6 and onwards are hidden for Bill) ?
Thank you!
Mike

So you were finally successful in installing a Moodle 4.2! Congrats!
We (those of us trying to help) never heard back from ya after the setting up of a DB.
Now for this next round ...
Please clarify in detail how you "copy and paste" a course.
As well as your definition of 'course repository'.
Me thinks you might need to refer to some docs ... maybe even an addon plugin:

https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/Repositories
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/Repositories_FAQ

You've really asked 3 questions in one posting with your senario of what you imagine can be done ... or asking how it can be done.
So ... more docs:
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/Groups
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/Tags
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/File_system_repository
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/Working_with_files
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/Tags
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/File_system_repository
https://docs.moodle.org/402/en/Working_with_files
Please read the docs first ... and if the docs don't have an answer for you come to forums and ask but giving info on what you tried, what's not working, etc.
