Emails from Offline Assignments are Confusing

Emails from Offline Assignments are Confusing

We created an offline assignment and are using the Advanced Gradebook from HUmboldt.

When a grade is entered into the assignment an email is sent saying that there is "feedback" on that assignment waiting for the student (even if only a grade was submitted and no actual feedback). When the student hits the link, they get a "Page not found" error.

I believe this is a miscommunication between the assignment module and the gradebook. Either there should not be an email sent out. Or, the email should link directly to the gradebook.

Anyone have any feedback on this issue?

Do offline assignments normally send out emails without using the gradebook?

I"m not sure I understand the question.

The email that is sent has a breadcrumb-like link something like this:
Class Name > Assignments > Assignment Name

If the student clicks on the Assignment Name link (and it's an offline assignment, meaning they didn't submit anything to that assignment) they get a "page not found" error.

Either there's a bug on our side, or that's mighty strange behavior. Whether the email is sent from the gradebook or not, they obviously communicate with each other in order that the grade is recorded.
