Dear Support,

We upgraded recently to Moodle 4.0, and we are having problems whenever we access any course, it takes up to 5 seconds to load while in Edit mode, it takes up to 25 seconds to load.

Whenever we try to delete a tile, it take up to 5 minutes or more.

Kindly we need you support.

Please note that we are using Tiles format for course format, and the Edwiser Remui theme.

Thank you.

Hi

The diagnosis of slowness is an involved thing. You have to provide as much information as possible about your Moodle site. Your initial pointers are https://docs.moodle.org/en/Performance and https://docs.moodle.org/en/Performance_FAQ as given in the header of the Hardware and performance forum https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=596.

If you suspect the theme, you can temporarily switch to the default theme by adding a line $CFG->theme='boost'; to your config.php.

BTW, you haven't switched the Theme designer mode by any chance?

As Visvanath suggests diagnosing performance issues can be complex, however you have included some important information, the amount of time, and the non core plugins.

There is an issue with a a theme like Edweiser Remui in that because the code is not publicly available people in these forums don't know what is in it. So first of all disable that theme and confirm that the issue is still there. If you change the theme by going to settings/set in URL

https://docs.moodle.org/400/en/Allow_theme_change_by_URL

The change will only apply to yourself and not others so that is a good option. Please confirm when you have done that test and what the results are.
