Analytics -- the option to receive emails or not

Analytics -- the option to receive emails or not

Hi all

We enabled analytics for this first time (after reading the documentation and watching the explanatory video) and hundreds of our teachers were flooded with collectively >1,000 insight emails.

Clearly, this is not ideal.

The concept of analytics is a good one. However, there needs to be options and control over how these insights are gathered and distributed.

For example, in one circumstance, I may desire site administrators to manually view insights reports periodically. In other circumstances, I may choose that teachers receive email notifications for given models.

A blanket "email every teacher in every circumstance", with no ability to set this preference against each model is a poorly conceived approach, and has led to us needing to disable the whole thing. This is a shame as we are missing out on useful information.

Please consider introducing emails as an *option* for analytics.

Kind Regards

Hi Lee,
On this page:
Site administration → Messaging → (Default) Notification settings

You have the following notification setting:
"Insights generated by prediction models"

You can change the defaults and make it an "Opt in" thing - setting the default so users won't get notifications with insights, and if a user wants such insights, he can set its own notification settings in the preferences.

Thank you Acqua, that's the setting we were looking for.

For future enhancements to Analytics, it would be good if within the Analytics settings page itself, it referenced (or directly accessed) this email setting.

Lee,

It would be great if you can share with us your experience by enabling the Analytics.
Did you test the accuracy? is it cause any load on the server? did they take time to delver insights or predictions? especially the straggling student model.

Regards
Mo
