Yes, the badge will remain even if you delete the course.

Once a badge is awarded it belongs to the user. It can not be deleted from the user, only revoked, as the documentation says.

You can verify this for yourself by creating a new course, add one user and one badge and manually award the badge to them. Then delete the course. The badge will remain on the user profile.

I'd like to add a bit of clarification:

A badge awarded to a user belongs to the user. Deleting a course or deleting a badge from the course settings will not affect awarded badges. Awarded badges, by design in the Open Badges specification, belong to the person awarded.

However, the definition and settings for a particular course badge do belong the course, just like course activities or competencies or other things. When you backup and restore a course, you can choose to include or exclude the badges with the course settings. When you delete a course, it will delete the badge definition and setup as part of deleting the course.
