Quiz is locking up upon addition of formulas question

Quiz is locking up upon addition of formulas question

When I add a formulas type question to my quiz, It locks the quiz up.  Meaning I can no longer add a section title, delete a question, rearrange the order of the questions.

Any thoughts? Suggestion are appreciated.  I have used the question in other quizzes without issue.

Thank you,

Wendy

Hello Wendy,

You cannot do these things after the quiz has been attempted. This applies to all quizzes which include all question types, not just Formulas questions.

If the quiz has already been submitted to students, it's too late and there's nothing you can do.

If the quiz has not been submitted to the students, you or someone else has taken the quiz with a student role. You just have to delete the attempts (all of them). Click on the name of the quiz, then on "Attempts: xx" in the center of the page. Select all attempts and delete them. But don't do this if they are real student attempts!

By the way, very nice work!

Dominique,
Thank you!
These are all great thoughts, however, my working copy of the class has no students.
I have not encountered anything like this before... I do not know why it freezes up the quiz.

I added your question to a quiz. Everything works well!

Have you double checked that there are no attempts in your quiz?

Have you tried including your question in another quiz?

I attached a video of the error I receive if I try to delete a header.    I can not rename the headers, delete question, or change their point value either.   Does this make any sense?    I can add as many questions I want, but when I add the one I messaged you, I get this error.    I deleted the original quiz, started another and still get the error.

Thank you,

Wendy

You're right, it definitely looks like there is something wrong. The two sources of errors I would consider are the question itself and the question manager which depends on the version of Moodle being used. The problem might be fixed if you use the latest 3.11.3 Moodle version. Otherwise, you will have to look in the question to see what blocks the question manager.

I exported the questions, imported them, and it seems to be helping. There is one more question to figure out.
I have moodle 3.11.3 installed. I do not know how to look in the question to see what blocks the question manager. Is there a video, or document with this information? Thank you for your help.

Hello Wendy,

An IT specialist would tell you to put your site in debugging mode (https://docs.moodle.org/en/Debugging) and might be able to diagnose the problem from the reported messages. You can also see what happens through trial and error by gradually changing the question.

Imho, maybe the problem would be more with JSXGraph than with the Formulas question with which I have never encountered such a problem. I suggest you submit your problem to Albert Wassermann (alfred.wassermann@uni-bayreuth.de), responsible for the JSXGraph project, who I am sure will be happy to help you. Do not hesitate to communicate with him.
