mp4 files not playing in folder activity

Hi, I'm running Moodle 3.11 and I've got a folder activity that includes, amongst other things, some mp4 files. When I click on the video link, it takes me to a media player, but the video doesn't actually play and none of the buttons in the media player are enabled:

What I see in the video player

If I download the link to my local computer, the video plays absolutely fine.

I'm browsing on a Windows 10 machine using Edge version 94.0.992.31

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I don't put my videos in a folder, so I might not be of much help.

Here is something to try. Drag and drop your download mp4 file into Edge and see if it plays. (This is all outside of Moodle, but could help diagnose the problem.)

Perhaps this post in another topic will provide some insight.

I can download the file and then drag it into Edge and it plays absolutely fine. It only fails if I click on the link within the Moodle folder activity.

Does your Moodle have the VideoJS player enabled?

Can you upload your video into your web server, but outside of Moodle, and have it play?

Just had a chance to try that. I uploaded it to public_html and it played absolutely fine in Edge. So that's not the problem.

How about your VIdeoJS player? Is it enabled in Moodle?

Have you tried simply creating a URL in Moodle and linking to your video which is in public_html?
