Presumably there's some information about the error at the top of this long list. Can you share what's at the top too?
Upgrading from 3.5.2 to 3.9.8 should be fine. Sometimes it helps to update to the latest "point" release first, from 3.5.2 to 3.5.18 in this case, before upgrading to 3.9.8.
