Does anyone know how I can handle criteria-based assessment. Students are assessed against criteria for each unit achieving a pass/fail on each. Each assignment might cover up to 6 of these criteria. There are criteria for achieving a pass, a merit or a distinction.
What would be really cool would be to add each of these criteria, then for each assignment select the appropriate ones (from a drop down list?) then when the students' work is assessed, have tickboxes (checkboxes).
It would be really important to be able to display a grid showing which students have achieved which outcome criteria. At the moment we have to keep a spreadsheet updated manually.
It there a module that has this functionality or has anyone managed to hack this - or is this something that would need to be written???

This is something that I need as well and am thinking of trying to create a mod that will do it. However I'm not sure what's coming in 1.6 and wonder whether it's worth the effort.
On second thoughts, as my college is likely to stay with 1.5.3+ for a while, I might give it a try.

We are in the same situation except the criteria are more flexible than just yes no.
For us we have an assignment with a series of criteria such as:
Shown Evidence of Wider Reading
Understood the Question
These are then given a mark from A+ to D (97% to 50%) and the possibility of an E (not present at all/fail).
Each of these are then in sections where each section has a weight.
And based on each section the overall assessment task is given a mark again using a scale of A+->D
And then these are all put into a spreadsheet to generate a mark which upon exiting the unit is P/C/D/HD plus a few others.
I have no trouble doing this with a class of around 33 students in three groups but the classes are going to grow and I want to automate as much of this as possible.
So has anyone got anywhere with this or should I start?
