Cron Jobs help!

Hello. How often are the cron jobs needed to be ran? Also, are they required? My host says:

If it's suppose to run every five min and it's running twice a day it could overload the server.

Then your account will be terminated.

Please help, thank you!

If you have an active course you should run the cron jobs every five minutes. A typical Moodle cron job will only do the necessary e-mail every five minutes and the "housecleaning tasks" every fifteen minutes. This isn't too much to ask of a decent webhost. If they don't allow this maybe let them know you're willing, and able, to move your business to a more gracious host.
Good luck

You can reduce the time period to every 30 minutes or even 60 minutes without affecting Moodle performance too much ... but each hit is not much load ... for example, the cron for this site (moodle.org) takes well under a second each time).
