Hi,

Is there a way to setup a question with three typed answers (CLOZE, SHORTANSWER) that need to be entered into three separate fields, but not in any particular order? e.g.,

Q) List three ways yada yada...

Way1
Way2
Way3

Since they are all correct and independent, either of these three ways can be entered into any one of the three available boxes (i.e., they do not need to be in that exact order).

Moreover, if the same answer is entered into more than one box, it should not count as an additional correct answer. e.g., the following should count as one correct answer.

Well it might, but I'd like the original poster to post a real-world example before proposing a working solution.

Your example is clear but not "real".
My Regular Expression Short Answer question type plugin is indeed not part of standard Moodle and needs to be installed by an admin. In the meantime you can have a look at the documentation here: https://docs.moodle.org/310/en/Regular_Expression_Short-Answer_question_type and decide for yourself whether it would fit the bill.
Especially Example 4.The 'permutation' feature.

Ask your administrator to install the gapfill question type by Marcus Green. It does exactly what you want to do and is quite easy to use.

Hi Matthias.

The problem is that I was informed about the fact that installing any plugins to our MOODLE site is a colossal pain that takes many months and lots of paperwork and approvals.

So, looks like I am stuck with what we already have there. 伤心

Ah, administration..., paperwork... approvals... I've known those... I'm glad I'm retired now and am the sole master of my Moodle, and other, personal sites.大笑
