it has been noticed that BBB is parsing them in /var/bigbluebutton/recording/process/presentation one by one. once a folder is done he moves to the next. but it is very slow. each recording is taking more than one hour

Hi Elie,

Let me start by poining out that this is not the best place for posting this question. Since it is BBB related you may be better off by asking in the bigblubutton-dev google group.

But, you are correct. The recording processor is a single thread process and that is exactly what happens when meetings are to big or the server is processing too many.

There have been plans over the years of re-implementing the recording processor but stability and features on the core components always trump this initiative.

Let's remember though that the single server deployment is not meant to be run at high scale.

In that spirit, and if you don't want to write your own recording processor (which is what every single company in BBB ecosystem is doing for scaling their clusters), you could have multiple bigbluebutton servers under Scalelite. You would not gain speed and compute power by spreading meeting, therefore recording processing between servers, but at the same time, you would increase your capacity for live sessions.

But again, you should raise your question to the BBB groups directly.

Cheers,

JF
