In the Question Bank, it would be nice to be able to select some (or all) of the questions and bulk add new tags or remove existing ones.

It would also be nice to have a "negative filter", i.e. the possibility to filter questions that do NOT have a certain tag (or tags).

It sure would be nice!

I've been searching all over, is there any development regarding this issue?

You could export a question bank category to XML and then edit them in a good text editor (e.g. Notepad++) to add and remove tags, and then re-import them as new questions (in a different category). You could also export questions to Microsoft Word table format for more sophisticated Search and Replace facilities if you are mainly changing existing tags.

I like Moodle, but it seems VERY clunky in its ways.  Most things seem to be an oversight, such as, when you duplicate a quiz, it doesn't duplicate the questions, so when you edit the new quiz you edit the old one!!! (Learnt the hard way).

Bulk deleting and tagging should be a given.  Also the quiz backup feature doesn't work.

What similar software are you comparing it with?

I’m not comparing it to anything else, I just think the functionality and editing side of things could be better. Having to tag 60 questions yesterday one at a time is a serious nuisance.

I assumed you preferred the tag handling in a comparable quiz product. Have you used a quiz product with tagging? Note that for many people the most common reason to update a quiz question is to make a correction. So an update that shows up in other uses of the question would appear to be a feature.

In my view the Moodle quiz engine is the most powerful available anywhere free or paid for with more third party tools than any other product. Having said that as I commented in this thread a year ago,  bulk tag handling would be a nice feature.

The good news is that the upcoming major release (Version 4.0 available around the end of the year) may well make it possible to create new types of quiz plugins which I suspect would include the possibility of bulk tag handling. As a full time Moodle developer  specialising in the quiz, I would like to work on such a thing, but there are so many desirable features and only so much time/money.

You can read about the upcoming new question bank here
https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=412117
and possibly more here

And the question versioning feature might address you question about question update/duplication.
