There are items at the top that I will never use yet some at the bottom, off the screen, that I use often.

I would like to have Badges and competencies moved to the bottom. Once I see how to to those, I will know the rest.

If nobody uses badges and competencies the admin can disable them at the site level.

That is not an option.
I am not that important.
I want to affect my course only.
It may be acceptable to move them for everyone but I doubt I should have them removed.

Unfortunately, the menu can only be affected by the site administrator either switching off those features, or by installing a plugin that can manage the menu (https://moodle.org/plugins/local_boostnavigation). NB even with this plugin, a teacher can't manipulate the menu, it's a site admin task.

In Boost, it is an all or none, and it appears that you want course-level changes. Why is it that some instructors want these and some do not?
Incidentally, I agree with you. In my Moodle, I have disabled both of these (at the site level.)

I am not sure, there may be some themes that allow course-level changes to the NavDrawer. You might also check the plugins to see if there is anything there.

It's *possible* to do it in a custom theme but actually quite tricky even then.
