Urgent Problem - Students cannot assess other's work

I am using Moodle (as I do every semester) for a patchwork peer review exercise on project preparation. The patchwork was submitting today and students should now be reviewing.

One student has posted the following:

"I can only review my own patchwork and cant see any of my groups.

I am getting this message though

workshop_list_student_submissions: unable to get submission

Stu"

I believe that some or all of the students are in this situation.

I have found other threads on this subject, but they recommend manually editing the database. Our server is controlled by Central IT Services so I cannot do this.

Can anyone suggest a solution. There is a tight deadline for this component of the module, so it needs to be solved during the next 24 hours, otherwise we are going to receive complaints from students (which always come back to lecturers).

This is the fourth time this module has run and this error has not been seen before. There are around 70 students participating on this run of the module.

We are getting the same error for SOME of our students, but not all - no idea why and we would like to find a solution soon too!

We are using Moodle 1.5.3+ (2005060230)

Can someone confirm if using groups in a workshop is causing the problem?

Or are there problems with students being able to see and assess peer work regardless of whether the workshop uses groups or not?

We use Moodle 1.5.3+

This maybe a bug in this version, i am not shure, if we can find it. because we could never reproduce that error ... but in the new version until summer, this should be solved ... sorry

I had the same problem and it is caused by several empty entries occuring in the database. Once these entries have been manually removed for a student (s)he can evaluate again.

I do not know how these empty entries get there. Perhaps students have a look at the evaluation and then close/save it without adding any info?

In this version it is sometimes possible to upload "nothing", maybe its to big or the file does not exist ...(problems with a networkdrive)

Students have to check their uploads and correct this.

This will be fixed in the next version

We are running phpMyAdmin 2.6.2 in Moodle 1.5.3+. Could you describe what empty entries to look for and delete to solve this problem?
