Hello,
i think i have similar problem. We are running moodle on cenos 6.6 and i am trying to set up Automated backup setup on remote FTP.

I mounted FTP with curlftpfs ftp://*** /mnt/ftp-backup-z/ -o rw,allow_other,uid=48,gid=48

Folder /mnt/ftp-backup-z/ is successfully mounted and i can access FTP in centos. Owner is apache, rihts are on 755.

On moodle WebUI "Automated backup setup" in "backup_auto_destination" is written "/mnt/ftp-backup-z/".

Moodle can see folder (small green check mark) ... but returns "Some settings were not changed due to an error" and "The backup destination folder does not exist or is not writable".

If i unmount "/mnt/ftp-backup-z/", moodle can save settings on WebUI "Automated backup setup.

But if i mount ftp to folder again, moodle return error " The backup destination folder does not exist or is not writable" again ...

I don't know why moodle can't write in mounted folder.

Thanks for help!
