Stuck in maintenance mode, v3.5.3

Inadvertently clicked the wrong button in our Plesk admin panel to update our installation of our moodle, which is at 3.5.3. Of course the update to the most current version failed. Now the site's stuck in maintenance mode and I can't get into the admin panel. Tried adding /login/index.php, tried adding

$CFG->maintenance_enabled=0;

to the config file, nothing. Help?

Found this: "if you have access to the database go in your moodle database mdl_config search for "maintenance_enabled" and change value to 1" for an earlier version but am hesitant to change the database. Can anyone confirm this will work in this version?

Seeing as your host provided some script to update your moodle, you need to go to them and have them roll back your site and fix it. This is a good reason why you should not use those script installers...we never know exactly what they do and as such, find it very hard to help.
