Latlong field only accepts E longitudes?

Why does the Latlong field in the Moodle database only accept longitudes based on E (East of Greenwich)?  Where I live in the western U.S. my longitude is 120W.  At the same latitude, 120E is in China!

Is there a setting in Moodle somewhere that lets you input longitudes based on W?

After doing some more digging, it appears you need to specify W longitudes using a negative sign (e.g., 120 W needs to be input as -120). This is not ideal or documented anywhere though. How are others handling this issue?

I didn't know that either!
Glenn, maybe you can add a note to the Moodle Docs database activity page on this?

An absolutely perfect suggestion, Stuart.  I've now done just that!
