Competencies that are auto-awarded by activity completion work best with Scales = Competent, Completed, Proficient. One single value. Students who did not complete the activity are displayed as NOT RATED. My learning experience is to only create Scales with the single value - unfortunately this cannot be corrected. Scales cannot be changed after they are awarded, even if the one value is never awarded to a Student. Scales are very unforgiving.
Competency that are manually rated by the Instructor can have multiple values for the Scale = Expert, Accomplished, Good, Fair, Needs Additional Effort.
