upgrade issue from 3.5 to 3.7 - Table "message_conversations" does not exist

I am trying to upgrade my moodle 3.5 to the latest version. PHP version on the server is 7.2. However, after going through all the screens, i get this error when i click the "Upgrade Moodle Database Now" button. What could be the issue and how to fix it?

How exactly are you upgrading? Is this a one-click installer or are you installing manually?
