Does Moodle 3.5 LTS work with PHP 7.3?

I need to install a new Moodle server, with Moodle 3.5 LTS, and now that Debian 10 has been released, it would be preferable to install under that rather than Debian 9.

Debian 10 comes with PHP 7.3, but the Moodle 3.5 release notes are not entirely clear as to whether PHP 7.3 is supported. The page says that PHP 7.0 - 7.2 are supported, but I don't know if the omission of any mention of PHP 7.3 is because PHP 7.3 was not released at the time when Moodle 3.5 was first released, and the page has not been updated, or is a definite "no", but silently?

Is anyone able to confirm whether or not the latest release of Moodle 3.5 works with PHP 7.3 or not?

(If not, we will just have to stick with Debian 9 for now, which has PHP 7.0.)

No.

Moodle 3.6 is the first version to support PHP 7.3

For the full story, see PHP

Having said that, you should be able to use the ondrej/php ppa to install any version you like. That's used on loads of production sites and is reliable.
