Taking the Hardware and performance forum https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=596 an example, the "write" view of it, when one is editing a new discussion, had a longer version in the header as the "read" version of it. Now both are identical. Where has the extended header gone?

For clarity for readers, the moderators of the forums on moodle.org had the ability to post two different pieces of text in the forum description box - one that displayed at the top of the forum using div class="intro" and one that displayed at the top of the page when posting a new item using div class="posting-intro"

With the changes to the forum activity in 3.7 and the introduction of inline forum posting, the content of the second div (posting-intro) is no longer displayed.

Indeed. The "extended forum header" is still there in a div class="posting-intro". What a relief!

As David comments in MDLSITE-5795, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an easy solution for displaying posting-intro text when starting a new discussion inline.

I never understood the purpose of this dual forum header. In the case of Hardware and performance forum the "read" header was very short, the "write" header was longer - it contained a more complete initial pointers on the subject. If you overwrite the shorter content with the longer content, the problem would be solved!
