We are in the process of updating from v2.9 to v3.6. Previously, the auto toolbar retained color formatting when copying and pasting text from an external source (e.g. Word), or within from within the Atto editor. This is a highly desirable feature for teachers giving feedback on essay assignments. Typically, teachers insert inline corrections in red text, or explanatory comments in blue. Some do it in Word and then paste, but a quick way to do this without using an external editor is to type a left bracket, select and set formatting to red font, and copy to the clipboard. Then, to insert a red correction, simply place the cursor after the error, paste in the red bracket, and start typing.
Sadly, this functionality seems to have been lost when we upgraded. The standard behavior for Atto now is to retain only bold and italics. Font color and background color are lost when pasted. If the cursor is inserted inside text, the pasted bracket now appears in the color of surrounding text.
I note that this is a change from prior behavior in Moodle 2.9, and is certain to make teachers quite unhappy as it's much less efficient to have to type, stop, select everything you just typed, and manually change the color.
Is there any way we can revert to prior behavior? There is a code hacker on our team, if someone can direct me to coding that needs to be changed.
