Shared objects and tracking completion across multiple courses

Hi there,


I'm working with Moodle and several courses which may sometimes share similar content, such as a video. 

If a user has watched a video in one course and it is marked as being completed, is there a way to have it marked as completed if they take the next course where the video also exists, so they don't have to watch it again?

No. Course activity completions will not update other course activities.

Does the video content need to be in several courses? Or can it be a stand-alone course by itself with a restriction condition that the video course must be completed before the students can progress to the next courses?
