I am using the combined question type to have multiple pattern match questions together. The problem is that I need to use the Superscript/subscript editor but it does not appear even after allowing the use of subscript and superscript. Am I doing something wrong?

In order to diagnose this, can you try making a stand-alone Pattern-match question, instead of as part of a Combined question. That will simplify the situation. Does it work there?
I think the main think to check is: if you recently upgraded qtype_pmatch, then you need to un-install editor_supsub, and instead install the new, improved editor_ousupsub. That is my best guess at why it might have stopped working.
Also, if you turn on Debugging, are there any errors anywhere?
