One of the criticisms of online learning is that where you provide certificated confirmation of training at the end of the course, how do you verify that the person saying they are taking the course is actually that person ( using a moodle lms ) ?
There are a lot of 3rd party products that can help identify the person. They will cost you some money, however.
What is it that you wish to verify?
Verifying students' identities online isn't that difficult; passport/ID scans and an online interview will do that.
However, verifying that a students' work is their own is another matter, which also applies to face-to-face education contexts.
One solution is proctored online exams and there are many services available, which charge fees, as Rick has already mentioned.
