If you are asking for help, we need important information (where relevant)...

  • What version of Moodle is this ? Moodle Version 3.5 new install.
  • What is your operating system, what web server are you using, what database and what are the versions of everything (including PHP)? On a PC, Windows 10, Using Microsoft Edge, using a windows server, using PHP 7.0
  • What did you do? What instructions did you follow? What did you expect ? What went wrong? While using Microsoft edge browser, turn editing on is logged out and appears a guest with no access to course.

It works fine on Firefox and Google Chrome.  Can anyone shed some light on this, one of my teachers finds firefox and chrome slow and like to use Microsoft edge.

You're using Edge? Bwwwwhhhaaaaaaaa! You are not your teacher so what do you think works better? For you. I refuse to use Edge, or Internet Exploder, they simply do not do what I would like them to do, despite how I differentiate setting and home pages and so on. Your solution is use and recommend a tool that works. AFAIK, Chrome outperforms Edge in most categories and has been the trendsetter for HTML5 compliance. Suggesting Edge is quicker is something of a nonsense when talking milliseconds. Humans can't register that time so it is the HTML5 compliance that becomes the important point.

General observations, connected to the question but not necessarily relevant.

Since posting the above, I have found that Opera's latest release has finally caught up to Chrome in compliance with HTML5. There is an even more recent argument that suggests Chrome is going to be challenged by the recently released Firefox Quantum. As Chrome is estimated to have 60% of the market, and Firefox 8.5%, this is a pretty big call, I thought. Given that Edge and Internet Exploder at 6.5%, Opera a growing 3.4% with the Mac's Safari taking most of the rest thay are, I suspect, going to be left behind. Other offerings, like Vivaldi,  take small shares, but they are mostly developing applications often for specific situations their devs meet. Yes, Chrome is out performed is some areas by these other browsers, but overall Chrome is assessed by its responsiveness and minimalist design and it still very fast. However, with the release of FF Quantum, its reduced memory consumption and its ability to better handle complex apps, may just give it the impetus it needs to claw back some of the support it has had in the past. Notice though, IE and Edge do not rate a mention here. Opera has improved but the other two haven't.

Have you checked whether the cookie setting in Edge is correct?

When you block "all cookies" in the advanced settings of Edge, you won't be able to log into Moodle.
