Have you change the permissions for displaying the Administration block? If you access to a course (as a teacher, for instance), are you able to see the administration block?

I'm having the same issue. If I link them to the category/course page page (course/managepent.php) they can do everything they need to, there just is no way for them to navigate their on their own as they do not see the administration block anywhere else.
