Is there a messaging plugin that will only allow teach to student conversation and never allow outside email in or out, other than what the teacher sends to the student or student responds back.  No student to student conversation either.  Or is there away to configure a plugin to be setup in this way?

Thank you Ken, we use this already but i dont see a way to allow student to view their email inside the course,  these classes I'm wanting this for, can not have any outside email access other than inside the class with just the instructor.

Where is student EMail located? and how are students currently accessing 'their mail'?

Thought plugin did restrict to course ... or used to ...

Has yours been upgraded/modified?

Well ... could do this for students NOT allowed to use true EMail outside ... change their profiles and the EMail address for all those to be restricted set to your own Moodle server.   Moodle server elearning.somenet.net ... student restricted would have (example Bob Jones - bjones - bjones@elearning.somenet.net).   Your Moodle server shouldn't be setup to accept mail for any users but root ... right?  Students with GMail might try that addy ... but ... it will bounce. Might need to duplicate the student role, 'nocom-student' ... then take away nocom-student role the ability to edit their profile as well as other restrictions.

QuickMail ... last time I saw it/used it was internal 'fake' email (looked like email) to the Moodle interface and there were options to restrict the 'mail' to the course where the block was active.   Student to Teacher and Teacher to Student in that course only.

BTW, used to do something similar with kiddo's who used various channels to 'cyberbully'/annoy, etc.. other students.  Interesting to watch those students who seemed determined ... what sort of things they'd try. ;)
