Visibility of hidden course topics to teachers

Hi everyone,

I have a topic in a course that I would like to be visible only to teachers, not to students. I can make each item in the topic hidden, and the teachers can still see them. But if I try to hide the whole topic, suddenly Moodle tells the teachers that the topic is unavailable.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

(I am using Moodle version 3.3.2.)

Hi Julia,

By default, Non-editing teachers do not have permission to see hidden sections. Allowing this capability would work for you.

1. Goto Site Administration block, edit permission of non-editing teacher role & allow capability to "View hidden sections"

updaterolepermission

Then

2. Allow 'View hidden sections' and Save.

changepermissions

Thank you so much! Also, that permissions page is really useful for other things - I had thought I had to change permissions course by course.
