Hi, all.

This message is to provide notice to developers about the impending code-freeze starting on Monday 9th October.

The code freeze is a point after which no new code (only fixes to existing code) is accepted in integration until beyond the release. This stabilisation allows for QA testing and means developers are able to respond rapidly to bugs found.

For more information see... http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Process#Events_during_cycle

Thanks to all the contributors to Moodle 3.4. We are waiting until all new features land in product and will prepare the release notes page from this list of issues.

Hi Marina, does that mean you need to submit for integration before 9th October, or that it needs to be integrated by then? I am assuming that since 9th is a Monday, it is submit for integration by then.

Correct, and more exactly, ideally before 14:00 AU/Perth that Monday: That's the last time issues are automatically sent to integration. After then, a manual process takes the baton and starts holding non-bugfix issues (new features and improvements).

Strictly flexible, the process, ciao smile

The code freeze for Moodle 3.4 began yesterday. This means that integrators  will only be accepting bug fixes into core for the next month or so, until the release of Moodle 3.4

Big thanks to everybody who contributed to Moodle 3.4, it is going to be another exciting release filled with awesome new features.

Over the next week or two integrators will be working their way through the backlog of issues submitted for integration and aim to start 3.4 QA after this is completed.

If you are a plugin author, it is probably best to wait until at least next week before starting to check your plugin for 3.4 compatibility as this will be a busy week of changes in the codebase. Please remember that PHP 7.0 is the minimum supported PHP version for Moodle 3.4. If you have not tested your plugins on PHP7 yet, please read "Moodle and PHP7".
