Upload of Moodle zip file

Upload of Moodle zip file

Hi folks

Just getting started today, and about to appropriate my domain name (which was never intended for Moodle).  I assume my Web host has a conventional LAMP file/folders structure.

What would be the consequences of uploading the big Moodle zip to public.html?  This is where I have placed my index.html in the past.  Or should the zip be uploaded to the root of my site?  I see that when you unzip moodle-latest-15.zip, everything is contained in one folder (moodle).  I don't intend using my website for anything other than as a Moodle test bed in the near future, so www.(mysite).com.au will be fine as the starting point.

Thanks for your help, Wayne

You can do that and it should work. I prefer to put it in a directory myself so I can run multiple copies for testing.

I have 1.4 and 1.5 installed on my same server.

The department's test server has a different copy for each customer we are developing for.
