Disable course enrollment but keep it available to previously enrolled users

Greetings!

Is there any setting already in place to disable course registration/enrollment and keep available to previously enrolled users?

There's been similar discussion back in 2013-2014 but no "official" solution, only some workarounds. I've found another workaround for this issue but would like to use some moodle settings if there are any available.

In case it will help somebody - I just add/change the course enrollment key thus those who have previously enrolled still have access to the course but new students are not able to enroll to it.

Hello,

Assuming you're using self enrolment, you can disable course enrolment while still allowing access to previously enrolled users in the self enrolment settings. Set 'Allow existing enrolments' to Yes and 'Allow new enrolments' to No.
